The Fort Saskatchewan River Valley!

We thought it would be a great day to try and get some family photos today, so we headed in to the Fort to go for a walk in the river valley! It was pretty short lived though because the mosquitoes were horrible, but we managed to get a few good pictures, and Connor didn't get bitten at all!

I really love this picture for some reason, even though you can't see anyone's face!

We are still suffering some bedtime woes, but it's slowly getting better again! Tonight Connor was very overtired, and really fought falling asleep. I finally got him settled down at around 9:30pm, and then he woke again for a few minutes at 10:07pm. We will figure it out eventually!!

Happy Feet!

Connor is absolutely loving his jumperoo lately! He can top that thing out! Here is a video of him with his happy feet!

His night time routine has gone completely out the window though, for the last week or so he has cried for about two hours before he finally goes to sleep. Tonight I think I am going to try and put him to bed an hour earlier to see if he is just overtired. Things had been going really well with slowly moving his bedtime earlier, but then just one night it all fell apart!! If moving bedtime earlier doesn't work, then I will try moving it later and see if that helps. If it does then I will slowly work it earlier again, and if it doesn't than I am completely out of ideas!! I thought maybe he was teething, so I gave him some Tylenol a few nights ago, and that didn't help at all. I can't feel anything on his gums either...

He is also not eating very much any more. I am hoping this is all just a phase and that things fall back in to place shortly, it's just so weird!! During the day he is pretty much his same happy self, though he does seem to get cranky earlier.

So, wish me luck! I hate seeing him cry so much, he had been doing so well for the last month!

Sleepy Time regression!!

Not much new today, we had another lazy day at home! Connor is not sleeping well lately though! Ever since he got his four month shots he has been really hard to get to sleep at night! I am hoping it's just a phase, but tonight it took two hours to get him to sleep! It was 10:30pm before he was actually in bed and quiet. I hope this is just a phase, and I hope he sleeps past 5am tomorrow! Poor little man is just not the same when he doesn't get a good night's sleep! And me either, so I better get to sleep, too!

G'night!!

May Long Weekend.

Well, Connor and Prissy and I are at home this weekend taking it easy! Daddy and Leo went camping at "the farm". I just wasn't ready to do the whole camping with a baby thing yet. There are so many mosquitoes and then we would have had to take both dogs which means two vehicles, and all of us sleeping in a tiny trailer... I know that I'll have to go at some point this summer, and I know that it will be great fun and an absolute BLAST for Connor, but with the dogs and our current set up, I'm not really looking forward to it.

We need to get a bug net for the pack'n'play, and I think I will at least wait until I can put bug spray on Connor! Though I just learned at the new moms group that you can still only put bug spray on once a day for kids ages 6 months - 2 years. So, basically I will have to wrap Connor in a bug net and tote him around all weekend!

Anyway, I know that it will be a great time when it happens, but I can't say I am upset about being at home right now! The forecast is rain all weekend!

Connor and I took it pretty easy inside today. We did take a little walk, and I put Connor in the kangaroo hold in the sling!! It worked pretty well, he looked like just a little head peeking out! I still don't feel completely comfortable using the sling like that though, I kept one hand around him because his head would bob all over when I walked! I should have set up the timer to get a picture of him though, he looked pretty adorable!!

I did take a bunch of pictures inside though! Here are a few of them.

He likes to pull himself forward in the swing now! It's funny to see him sitting up clinging on to his toys!!

~~~~~~~~~~
Bedtime tonight was a tricky one! He didn't settle down until 9pm, but then he woke up crying twice, and finally fell asleep for the night around 10:30pm. I hate it when he cries in his sleep and wakes himself up. He hasn't slept well since his shots actually, the last few days he has woken up at 5am! I hope it's just a temporary thing!
Back to Tummy roll has been confirmed!!
I finally saw Connor roll from back to tummy today at my moms house!! It was super cute, he would tilt his head all the way back, and then his legs would roll, and then finally his big noggin would come over!! He only did it once, but now I am certain that this isn't some weird thing that he can only do in the crib when no one is watching!
Connor did good today, I thought he might be sleepy since he got his shots yesterday but he didn't sleep all that much. He was a little needier than usual, but generally was his happy self!!
Tonight's bedtime: 9:18pm, had to go back in three or four times, but we also started late today!
My brave, strong little man!
Today was Connor's four month shots. He cried pretty hard as he was getting them, but he stopped really quickly afterwards, and he fell asleep on the way home! It's only about a three minute drive too! When I got home I took him out of the carseat and put him down in the crib and he went right to sleep for about 40 minutes.
He had a few short naps throughout the rest of the day. He was being quite needy, wanting to be held all the time, but I was okay with that! I really like being the thing that makes him feel better! If he is similar to the last round of shots, he should sleep a lot tomorrow, so it will be a pretty mellow day at Oma and Opa's house!!
They also weighed and measured him, so as of today he is:
Weight: 13lb 6oz
Height: 24 3/4in.
Head Circumference 40.2cm
He is back up to the 50th percentile for weight after dropping to the 25th last month, so I am super happy with that!
I finally got a video of Connor laughing! This is from yesterday. Isn't he adorable??
And here are a few more pictures from the last few days, I am really loving his new haircut!
Here he is yawning during our weekly walk in St.Albert!
Tonight's Bedtime 9:00pm. Not bad considering he had his shots today! He was a little harder to put down, but he still did really well!
New bedtime record!!
Official bedtime: 8:56pm! I put him down at a quarter to 9 and I only had to go back in once after that. We are inching closer and closer to our 8pm bedtime goal!
Happy four months, little man!!
I can't believe Connor is four months old already!! These have been the fastest four months of my life, and yet, it seems like Connor has always been a part of our lives. Memories from before becoming a mom seem like the very distant past!!
Connor is doing lots of things these days! He is very good at grabbing things, and has started reaching for things like my cup of tea, the laptop, and Leo's face!! He has started rolling over both ways, though I have still yet to actually see him go from back to tummy! Oh, and he has started sleeping about eleven hours at night!
Today I am much happier with Connor's haircut! I think I just had to mourn the loss of his lovely locks for a while! Now I can see that this will be much nicer for the summer, and I know that it will continue to grow really fast, like it has been doing already!!
Here's a few pics to compare:
About two weeks old:
At two months old:
Just before haircut:
And today, post haircut, and 4 months old!!
So his hair now is officially the shortest it has ever been! It's shorter than the day he was born! Next time I do think I'll leave it a little longer though! His mohawk is really tiny now!
Well, that's all for now! Here's to the best four months of my life, and for many more to come!! I love you, Connor!
Bedtime: 9:30pm. With a soother, but I didn't need to go back in once! He is getting so good at putting himself to sleep!
Ack!! I cut his hair!!!
Oh, I am sorry little guy!!! I loved your hair, but it was getting in your eyes, so I cut it. I don't know how to cut hair, but I did it anyway!!! I feel like I have somehow robbed you of your personality...of your very essence, somehow... Please still love me in the morning!!
Oh my goodness... I just can't even explain how I feel! I had been thinking of doing this for over a week now, and today I just finally got up the courage to do it, but I hadn't meant to go this short. At first I thought it looked really cute, but then after his bath it was just all fluffy, and so short!!!
So short....
I still think he looks adorable, but so different!! His hair is blond now!! It makes him look a lot more like Derek, and that is a really cool thing, so that is the silver lining here... But, I was not ready to get rid of his "crowning glory". Hopefully it grows quickly!!
Picture, pictures, pictures!!
Well, my earlier post was cut a bit short, so I thought I might as well get two in today!!
Here are a couple pictures from our nap earlier today. You know, it's funny, I worked so hard to get Connor to nap in his crib, and now I nap with him in our bed anyway! Sometimes, I just don't feel like I get in enough snuggle time!
Tonight's bedtime: 10:10pm, but we started late because I got a call from someone in Toronto selling Disney baby books! What is a mom to do??
Life is.. a walk in the park!!
Yesterday Connor and I went for another walk in St.Albert with Beth and Jamie, and Beth's sister Jodi. It was pretty sunny out, so Connor had to break out his sun hat for the first time! What a cutie patootie!
Last night we broke the bedtime record!! Connor went to sleep at 9:30pm! AND, he slept straight through until 8:30am!! Then I played with him till a little after 9:00am, then he seemed sleepy again so we snuggled up and had a nap! He slept till noon! Of course, since noon he hasn't slept till now, and he's only been down for a few minutes, and now he's up again, so that's the end of this post!!
Yay Barbecue!
We headed over to Beth and Marty's place today for a barbecue! It was so nice to be outside finally! Beth had a great set up with the play pen outside, and Connor and Jamie had a great time out there!
Here are some of my favorite pictures:
Here's Connor with this rat, Capone. (Which, thanks to Beth, we now pronounce Ca-po-nee! It's apparently more baby friendly that way!)
Connor's bedtime: 10:16pm. No soother, put him down awake and he put himself to sleep! I can't tell you how the fresh air helps this boy sleep better!
Quick update!
Not too much new happening the past few days! The night before last, Connor slept 11 hours straight though! It was incredible! I am sure that giving him a bottle of formula a night has something to do with it though!
Of course, last night, even with formula, he woke up at 4am!! It was very rainy and windy though, and the wind was making howling noises that kept me up, so I am sure that Connor wasn't sleeping that well either!
We went to Ikea today, and they had a lot of little stuffed animals, so Derek picked out one for Connor.... a RAT! A stuffed rat!! It's actually super cute, and Connor likes to chew on his face and tail! I decided it should have a Mafia type name, so it's called Capone. Capone the rat.
That is all.
Connor's Day - A Play by Play!
I was feeling a little camera happy today, so I pretty much took pictures of everything Connor did! (Minus a few diaper changes and some naps!) So, here is a breakdown of how our little man spent his day. It was a busy one!!
First, Connor helped me fold some laundry!
Then he had some tummy time:
Then I found Derek's hat, and I was compelled to do this:
Check out his face in this one - Hee hee!
Hmm, what came next... Oh yeah, Connor chewed on some spider legs!!
And then, quite possibly the highlight of Connor's day, Daddy brought home the Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo!! He's still not quite tall enough, so we have some books under it for now.
Do you think he likes it?
After all that excitement, it was time to start our bedtime routine, so Connor had his bath:
Then I fed him and he went off to sleep! What a busy and exciting day!!
I discovered something about giving Connor formula today also! He needs it warm, which makes sense, since what he normally gets is warm! The first day I gave him formula it was still a little warm from boiling the water, and he ate that okay, and then yesterday I just gave it to him room temp and he didn't like it that much. Today I made less because he didn't eat much yesterday, and I warmed it and he gulped it all down without spilling a drop! Then I had Derek make a little more, but just at room temp, and he wouldn't take it! So, I warmed it and he ate it all again! Maybe this doesn't seem so interesting to you, but it's super exciting for me!! Eureka!! After he ate he only fussed for a little bit, and then went right to sleep!!
Official Bedtime 10:32pm - it would have been sooner but my Formula Hypothesis took a while to confirm!! It's amazing how much I still learn every day!
