Another first...

Today was the first time I really spent any time away from Connor. We had a mini practice run last night when I went to pick up groceries, but today I was away from Connor from 11:30 am until almost 5:00pm. Beth and I went clothes shopping! (Which, despite realizing that I can almost shop in plus sizes, was a really good time!)

All in all, it went well! I think it was much harder on me than on Derek or Connor! On my way in to Edmonton to meet Beth, a really good song came on the radio, so I turned it up real loud, something I wouldn't have done with Connor in the car. Then, I drove a little faster than I normally would. have... I was flying down highway 2, grooving along to the song, and then I got a little teary! I suddenly felt very much alone!

I shook it off pretty quickly though, because I know that it was good for me to get away finally, and I think it was good for Connor to have some Daddy time too! Derek said that it went really well, but that it was a lot of work!!

I really didn't think that being away from Connor would be so hard!! I mean, he was a part of me for 9 months, and today being away from him felt more like becoming unattached than the day he was born did!! I had a good time, but I was so happy to be back home with him afterwards. I am clearly going to be a mess when Connor goes away to college!!

Last night after Connor's bath, I twisted his hair into a point! Hee hee! What a cutie!! Now you understand why I never leave his side!!

Tonight's Bedtime: 10:12pm - Not bad!

I took this video at my parents today! Connor is so funny when he does this in his sleep! It's no wonder he wakes up hungry, the poor guy thinks he's eaten already!!

Here are three other little videos of Connor, I just looked through these all today and I couldn't believe how much Connor had changed in each of them! From how he looks, to how he moves and sounds. I think this shows his progress much better than pictures do!

I have come to terms with the fact that I really need to get Connor's hair cut! I think I will actually take him in to get it done because I haven't the slightest clue how to cut his hair, and it's sort of his crowning glory, so I want to make sure it's done right!! Until then, I think Connor will be rockin' the hawk more often. He needs to make the most of it while he has it! Plus, he likes to rub it in Daddy's face that he has significantly more hair than him!!

In other news, Connor has recently discovered his feet! He can't quite reach them yet though!


Today Connor and I went for a long walk In St.Albert with Beth and Jamie! The weather was fantastic, and there were so many other people out with their babies in strollers! We stopped so the boys could have some lunch and relax in the sun for a little while:

And yeah, that was me who brought the blanket with pink roses on it!! Beth says it'll teach the boys to be sensitive! Well, sensitivity is good, but next time I am bringing my blue polka-dotted one! A much better backdrop for photos, if I do say so myself!

You'll never guess what time Connor went to bed tonight...10:04pm! Thats a full 24 minutes earlier than last night! We're talking leaps and bounds here people, leaps and bounds!!
Apparently all Connor needs is a three hour walk each day! Whew, mama needs a new pair'o'walkin shoes!! Now, as long as Beth and I don't get Slurpees every time we go, maybe I'll eventually get back to pre-preggo shape!!

My son is a genius!!

You wouldn't believe all the things he has learned in just the past two weeks!! I shall list them for you here:

1. He makes "razz"berries! The first time he did this was April 19 at the Dr.'s office, then he did it a few more times at my parents house later that day. The day after, he was doing it like crazy! Too cute!
2. He rolls from back to tummy. Now, as I mentioned in a previous post, I have yet to see him do this, he just ends up on his tummy when I go to get him in his crib.
   
3. But, today I SAW him roll from tummy to back!! It's cool, he does it real fast, all in one motion. I still think this is because his big head just tips over and the rest of him follows, but I am proud of him nonetheless!
4. He takes his soother out of his mouth and puts it back in! Okay, he only has like a 3% success rate at putting it back in, but still...impressive!!
5. Now here's the kicker - A few days ago, he barfed and then said, "uh oh!" I kid you not!! Genius I say!!

Check out this picture of Connor sleeping during his morning nap today. He is a tough one to get to sleep, he likes to fight it, but once he gives in he is out like a light!!! I am also proud to say that I have completely transitioned Connor from napping in the swing, to napping in the crib!! It actually only took about a week, and now he has much more predictable naps, and I am way better at realizing when he is sleepy.

I figure I'll probably keep track of Connor's bedtimes on here until I reach my goal of 8pm. We've got a long way to go yet!! Today he was in bed at 10:28pm, which seems like a little progress from last time, but really, it's not, because I started our bedtime routine about 45 minutes earlier today! I just couldn't keep him happy, so I ended up giving him his bath at about 8:30pm instead of 9:15pm. I wonder if he would have fallen asleep at the same time with a 9:15pm bath?? I swear I think more about how to have a successful bedtime routine than anything else!

Well, that's about all for today! I might actually be asleep before midnight tonight!

The truth about the blog.

In case you couldn't tell, I just created this blog a few days ago, and I have been frantically backblogging(yep-I made that up.)everything to the best of my memory. Now that I have done so I will do my best to post something every day, even if it's just a few words! And I am sure that most of my posts will come at this same ungodly hour, as it is really the only time I have that I know will be uninterrupted!!

I am really glad I started this, because I think it will be a great way to accurately keep track of everything that is going on! I think my excitement, joy, and possibly the most comedic, my frustrations, will be depicted here pretty truthfully, and it will be a blast to look back at as time goes on.

So, this blog is really just a super-detailed online Baby Book, and that is just what I wanted it to be!

Angry Connor...

Today Connor learned how to be angry! A few weeks back he started squealing, and I was really happy, because "squeal with delight" is actually a milestone in 'What to expect in the first year'. Well, today squeals of delight turned into screeches of anger! At first it was sort of cute, but it got old pretty fast! I guess it's better than him crying though!!

In other news, I got Connor to sleep at 10:36pm tonight, and no soother! I am trying for an 8pm bedtime - he wouldn't sleep before 11pm for the longest time, so we are slowly making progress!

Just a few pictures of Connor and Leo together! Despite what you see when you visit our house, Leo is actually a super mellow dog most of the time!!

He's a rollin'!!

I guess most babies learn to roll from their tummy to their backs first, but other than a few tip-overs early on, Connor still hasn't done that. He has, however miraculously been on his tummy in his crib in the morning, when I distinctly remember putting him down on his back!

What a tricky little man!! I still haven't seen him do it, so I am not 100% sure he can do it without pushing off of the edge of the crib. I have tried to entice him to roll by jiggling a toy by his side, and he gets close, but doesn't quite make it all the way to his tummy, but it won't be long, I'm sure!

The good thing about this though, is that he seems much happier during tummy time now! I can actually put him down flat instead of propping him on a pillow, and he will play with a toy happily for quite a few minutes! Yay for progress!

Finally outside!!

Now that the weather is nicer, I can finally get my little man outside!! We have gone for walks with Oma, and with Beth and Jamie, with Daddy and Leo, and sometimes just he and I head out to the post office! Actually, recently we went to the post office twice in one day because Mommy left her keys in the door of her mail slot, and didn't realize it until we got all the way back home!! *sigh* My brain just isn't what it used to be, but that's not the point of this post - the point is...umm.... wait, I forget!!

Oh wait, I remember, pictures!! These were taken while we were doing some yardwork! Or I should say, Derek was doing yardwork, Connor and I were watching!!

Connor has a new best friend!!

My best friend, Beth, had a beautiful redheaded baby boy, Jamie, on March 10. We finally got together and took some pictures of the boys together! For some reason, we never remembered to take pictures before this, but rest assured, there will be more to follow!!

Happy three months, little man!!

Today Connor is three months old! Boy, time sure does fly! I can't believe how much he has changed, and how much new stuff he is learning every day! My baby isn't a newborn anymore!

Today: 12lb 2oz, 24 inches long
Birth: 7lb 10oz, 19 inches long

Baby's first Easter!

We headed out to Boyle on the Saturday of Easter weekend, and Connor saw his Great-Grandma for the first time!

Of course, we were so busy taking pictures of Connor in his Easter outfit, that we left the camera at home, so these are our only Easter pictures!

(Notice that we got Connor all dressed up, but Derek and I are in jeans and T-Shirts - yep, Mommy and Daddy are slobs! Oh well, no one's lookin' at us anyway!!)

We spent Easter Sunday at Oma and Opa's and it was a full house!! We had to bring out the kid's table and everything!!

He's Laughing!! It's the cutest thing ever!!!

Connor will let out a little giggle every now and then! It started right around the beginning of April. Derek can make him laugh by playing airplane with him, he's done it a couple nights in a row now!! I made him laugh once by making funny noises at him while he was in his swing. A few times he lets out a tiny giggle when you clean his toes in the bathtub...

The coolest thing though is the last two times I have taken him to my parents house, he will chuckle at my mom!! I'll take him out of his carseat and then my mom will come and talk to him and he will chuckle! Or a guffaw, maybe! A real laugh, anyway! It's just the most precious thing ever!!
